Starbucks, the company that has stood by the “woke” movement in every step is now finally getting a taste of its own medicine as stores across Democrat-run cities are becoming challenging to operate.
According to the company, it is closing at least 16 coffee shops in Democrat-run cities because of safety concerns.
Six locations in Seattle and Los Angeles will be closed permanently as the crime rate in both cities is at an all-time high. Similarly, two stores in Portland, and one in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C. will also stop serving moving forward.
“We want you to know that creating a safe, welcoming, and kind third place is our top priority,” Starbucks Senior Vice Presidents of U.S. Operations Debbie Stroud and Denise Nelson wrote to employees. “Because simply put, we cannot serve as partners if we don’t first feel safe at work. The question on our minds is: How do we continue to show up for our communities while protecting our partners?” They added.
According to crime data, the cities of Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia have witnessed crime rates like never before. With politicians and district attorneys refusing to hold violent criminals accountable, homicide, and theft are surpassing all previous records.
Businesses leaving such cities are not just limited to Starbucks. Even small businesses and over a dozen convenience stores have announced permanent closures as a result of an uncontrollable crime wave.
“Right now we have a lot of problems with the city of Philadelphia. We are closing left and right,” Manzoor Chughtai, the president of the Franchise Owners Association, told WPVI. “Robbers are coming in, they’re just robbing the place left and right. We have now lost about 15-20 stores in the city of Philadelphia. Nobody wants to take over the store. Nobody wants to run the business in the city of Philadelphia. Very dangerous,” he added.
In California, four different 7-Eleven stores witnessed shootings on Monday. These shootings left at least two people dead and more than three injured. “Our hearts are with the victims and their loved ones,” 7-Eleven Corp. said in a statement. “We are gathering information on this terrible tragedy and working with local law enforcement,” the statement read.
California has famously adopted Proposition 47, which makes all thefts of $950 or less a misdemeanor. Ever since adopting this proposition, shoplifting across the state has drastically increased and business owners are left helpless witnessing people just walk out of the stores without any accountability.
Policies like these have made, not just businesses but everyday people upset and as a result, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón is facing a recall with more than 715,000 people voting in favor of recalling the Soros-funded D.A.
