BREAKING: Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin Sets Constitutional Precedent, Signs Bill That Would Limit Future Governors Emergency Powers!

Virginia’s Republican Governor has signed a historical, first of its kind bill that would prevent him and future governors from ever abusing their powers in the wake of any healthcare emergencies like that of the recent COVID-19 virus.

The bill received bipartisan support in the commonwealth legislature. Senate Bill 4/House Bill 158, as well as Senate Bill 46, was signed by the Republican governor this week.

“The governor will continue to take action against overreach. Given the previous administration’s power grabs during COVID, he was pleased to limit the governor’s emergency powers during a state of emergency and reiterate his commitment to a smaller government. He will continue to empower Virginians and their ability to challenge potential government overreach,” Macaulay Porter, the press secretary for Gov. Youngkin, referenced told Townhall media in a statement.

“The Emergency Services and Disaster Law limitation on duration of executive orders. Limits the duration of any executive order issued by the Governor pursuant to his powers under the Emergency Services and Disaster Law to no more than 45 days from the date of issuance. The bill provides that if the General Assembly does not take any action on the rule, regulation, or order within the 45 days during which the rule, regulation, or order is effective, the Governor shall thereafter be prohibited from issuing the same or a similar rule, regulation, or order relating to the same emergency. Under current law, once issued, such executive orders are effective until June 30 following the next regular session of the General Assembly.” Reads the official legislative page for Virginia.

During the coronavirus pandemic, many governors from various states, especially those controlled by Democrats displayed almost tyranny-like behaviors and enforced many unconstitutional laws. Some of the most notable examples would be Democrat New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Michigan Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who completely mismanaged the pandemic and forced citizens to follow unconstitutional policies.

Two of these, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer are still in power. However, New York’s famous Governor Andrew Cuomo had to resign in disgrace after his own attorney general proved him guilty of sexual misconduct with government and private employees.
